Pfork ♥'s Megan Lee Designs (and vice-versa)

Here are some lovely ladies sporting their new duds.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth at Pitchfork this past weekend. It was SOOOOO hot, but people were still having a great time. I'm hoping for slightly cooler weather next year...

I got to see LCD's sound check (awesome!) and a little bit of Major Lazer, which was super fun. I wanted to be in the middle of the dancing if I wasn't so tired.

I have a bit of a break to set up my new house out in Berwyn until my next show - Bucktown Arts Fest in August. Until then, if you want to shop check out my new website for stores (more on that in a new post) or shop directly online.

Once again, thanks for being awesome!

Megan Lee Designs at West Fest & Pitchfork

Hey there,

This year has flown by - I can't believe its been a year since the last West Fest and Pitchfork!! These are two of my favorite shows because everyone is out and ready to have a good time. We will be CERTAINLY ready for a good time this weekend because we are moving to Berwyn this Friday (we got a house!) and then doing the West Fest show the next two days. Ah, the life of a crafter. Then, the next weekend is Pitchfork/Coterie on Friday - Sunday. Some things to look for in my booth: manta rays, dachshunds riding unicycles, new "IL love you forever" Illinois t-shirt, whooping crane tunic & t-shirt, pug t-shirt & tote, new style of peacock dress, seahorses...the list goes on! Oh, and LOTS of sale items...

West Fest
Booth 36 - South side of Chicago Ave. between Wolcott and Wood
Saturday and Sunday from noon - 10pm (July 10-11)

Pitchfork Mustic Festival / Coterie Chicago
I'll be in the big white tent along with the record fair near the back of the festival
Friday, Saturday & Sunday (July 16-18)

And last, but not least, my new website is finally live. I have a shop and lots of info about where to find me in stores, etc. Its pretty new, so if anything seems wonky feel free to drop me a line about it and I'll fix it right away.

I've had fun this year traveling the country for some great shows, but I'm glad to be back in Chicago for a few summer months and selling to all of my favorite Chicagoans. Hope to see you one of the next two weekends!

Silkscreening on wood

This was a really cool project I got to work on this past week. My friend Megan is the design director at Conifer Research and they just moved locations. She needed someone to silkscreen these signs that are made from a reclaimed silver maple. The imagery is based on different type of conifer trees and were by Sasha from Conifer's design team. It was my first time screenprinting on wood, and there was definitely some trial and error involved, but in the end I think they turned out great!

The Spring show is tomorrow

This is a little last minute, but I still wanted to mention a great show that I will be participating in tomorrow to kick-off the show season. Its called "The Spring Show" and takes place up in Ravenswood in Chicago, from 10am - 5pm at Architectural Artifacts (a beautiful antique store/showcase with an event space as well).

I've been super busy printing lots of new designs for men, women, and babies and haven't had time to update my etsy shop, so you'll be seeing lots of new items if you can make it to the show tomorrow. For all of you out-of-towners the Etsy site (and a new Megan Lee Designs website) will be updated soon. I'm actually having a second photoshoot today to document the rest of my spring and summer line, thanks to John Caruso, an amazing photographer friend.

Thanks for all the support and for buying handmade!

Craft Show Prep

I've been meaning to do this for awhile, and now that I finally did I thought I'd share it with all of you crafters out there. I've probably got at least 50 craft shows under my belt at this point and finally made a comprehensive list of what to bring. Its in pdf format and has little checkboxes, room for you to fill in your own inventory/merchandise, etc. If I'm missing something major, email me and I'll update it. Enjoy!

The Empty Bottle starts serving at noon, so feel free to shop with mimosas in hand. (We do encourage relaxed shopping.) You can also grab brunch at the tasty Bite Café next door.

Markets include funky jewelry, glass pendants, knitted items, handbags, clothing, paper crafts and more.

Did you know that in the city there are many makers who create jewelry, clothing, scarves, handbags, journals, greeting cards, and more? Do you want your money to go directly to the people that make the things you buy? Here you can establish a personal connection, and our makers are even encouraged to demonstrate or make their products during the event.

Sustainable crafterness this is a regular monthly event. We strive to create a crafter's market, with affordable handmade, mostly local items. There are a ton of crafters in the city, and we try to make this accessible to up and coming designers, jewelry makers, and others. Come out and help support your monthly crafter's market.

Thanks for buying handmade!

Pillow Friends!

Posted by Picasa
I got a little crazy yesterday and turned a bunch of my designs in to mini-pillows. I am in love with soft things, and I love the idea of being to display art absolutely anywhere! Pillows are so light and can add so much to a boring book shelf, or lean next to your favorite plant. They'll be on etsy soon, and this batch is going to Renegade Handmade on Division.

New Store!

Hello everyone -
Just wanted to announce that some Megan Lee Designs t-shirts and tunics will now be available at Lenny & Me / Three Bird Gallery on Milwaukee Ave. just north/west of the Jewel/Kmart shopping center. They have a huge selection of vintage clothing as well as a growing collection of locally handmade clothing and accessories. Some standouts are Pierogi Picnic's super cute recycled tops and dresses (one of which I'm wearing right now) and a large assortment of beautiful items featuring the drawings of Brett Manning. I couldn't resist this little plush pin, which is now on my purse. So, to make grocery shopping at the Jewel a little bit more palatable, stop in first to Lenny & Me and check out the goodness!
