Just wanted to remind you that the 7th Annual DIY Trunk Show will be
taking place on Saturday November 21st from 10 am to 5pm at Pulaski
Park Fieldhouse (1419 W. Blackhawk). The three rooms of fun, fantastic
food, great music, area non-profits, an ATM truck, and even a massage
therapist will be there to greet you and make your day-long shopping
extravaganza the best fun you could expect. If you haven't been to the
park, it is located about 3 blocks NE of the Ashland/Milwaukee/
Division intersection. Parking can be quite a hassle so if you're not
interested in hunting for a parking spot we suggest taking the
Division, Milwaukee, or Ashland bus. Or if the train is convenient,
the Division stop lets you out right at the intersection.
If you're a friend of a crafter, interested in seeing what the menu is
going to be like for the day, or generally just looking for more
information about the show we suggest you head on over to
http://www.diytrunkshow.com and taking a look. The Participants page
has pictures and descriptions of all of our vendors. The About and
Date/Time/Place page will get you the nitty-gritty details. And the
News page will get you maps of the 3-3-3!!!! rooms of vendors, the
menu, and lots more information you may find useful.
Please join us! We'd love to show you just how crafty, creative, and
cool your local makers and shakers are.

First Holiday Show
My first holiday show of the season was yesterday. It was in the Wrigley Building at the ad agency "Energy BBDO" as a way for the employees to buy handmade for the holidays. All of the vendors also made donations to the United Way - a great way to kick off the holiday season!
I really loved the hand logo they made to advertise for the event.
My new display boards - can't wait to use them for all my upcoming shows.

This sockdog is ready for winter
Originally uploaded by de*

(The colors in the sock and the scarf go frighteningly well with my banner. Just had to mention that.)

Featured treasury
My sparrow dress was on the front page of Etsy yesterday, thanks to a treasury list by Mon Atelier. I'm starting a new project making headbands / fascinators with my painted birds. I'll hopefully have some in my Etsy shop within the week. Now that my hair is starting to grow out, but not really long enough to pull back, a headband is the perfect solution!

Coterie and Pitchfork
Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth at Pitchfork. Can you say great people watching? The hipsters were out in full effect :) I met people who came from all over the county, and my favorite Canadians from Winnepeg! Thanks to Coterie for putting on a great show. Check out the photos for some of my favorite vendors / purchases.

Look Mom, its my booth!

Super fun new vendor - Eyesore, custom, unique eye patches. So, I had to buy one.
And speaking of love, Pockit-palz does it again...I want this guy so bad! But first, I need a room for him.

Go Berwyn! and the suburbs in general...
So yesterday I participated in Constructor 2.0 at Fitzgerald's Bar in Berwyn, just a few miles west of the city. It was AWESOME. really. really. awesome. The weather was perfect, just the right mix of crafters, and the shoppers were wonderful. I had a great time. Thanks to everyone including Fly Bird and Sheriff Peanut for putting on a great show.
Here's the coolest plush ever that I scored at the show:
It's a "Pock-it Palz" - a friend with a friend. Yeah. I love it!

On the Thrillist
So, I meant to blog about this a couple weeks ago when it actually happened, but I'm doing it now instead. I got a bunch of random orders for my "Meet me at the Crotch" t-shirt 2 Wednesdays ago and was wondering, hmm...what's up? Then someone told me I had been featured in Thrillist. What?! Awesome. Here's the little write-up...

Did I just see that?
Its not everyday that you see a squirrel casually munching on a nacho chip right outside your front door. So, I decided to document this awesomeness and share it with the world. I know I haven't blogged in a while, but I'm going to try and share when any kind of inspiration hits - whether or not "business" related. Who wants to think about business all the time when there are squirrels with the munchies?

Spring fashion!
So, it actually does feel kind of springy today in Chicago, even though it couldn't be any grayer. But, I found out yesterday that my peacock dress is in an Etsy contest for the best of spring fashion. If you have a minute, give me a click! The voting ends in 6 days.

Ladybird Johnson
This is a design for a Decemberists poster contest. The winner will get printed and used for their show at SXSW where they will peform "The Hazard of Love" (their new album) in entirety. Entirety? Is that a word? I think so. Anyway, apparentally they are obsessed with Ladybird Johnson, so that is why she is front and center.

Bunnies!
This is my second poster design for Genre-X, the 20's and 30's book club, hosted by the Oak Park Public Library. I love getting to come up with creative ideas when I'm given great themes to begin with. This one is for "Hop on Pop" a pop-culture trivia night that is free and sure to be lots of fun. I'll be there (on March 14th) with my husband where we can finally put all that reality tv to good use! For more info visit genre-x.com.

The fourth cutest thing on Etsy?
So, thanks to any of you who voted for my pink and red stripey sockdog. It was 4th out of the 60 cutest options (chosen by Etsy admin) for the "Season of Love" Voter on Etsy. Pretty exciting — it's now being featured in the children gift guide on Etsy.

The Handmade Market
My booth at The Handmade Market at The Empty Bottle in Chicago.
Thanks for everyone that stopped by my table at The Handmade Market on Valentine's Day. There was a great turnout on a beautiful sunny day. Lots of Bloody Mary's being served..I was right by the bar. Great spot!
My Lucky Socklets were definitely a best seller...I guess everyone needs some luck!
I'll be there next month also, and most likely all year. Its just so convenient being right down the street from me. I also met a new fabulous jewelry maker - Laura T. Lombardi, who has gorgeous multi-chain necklaces and earrings. And, my friend Alex from Supergirlart was there with her awesome silkscreened t-shirts and onesies. Hope to see you there next time - oh and make sure to get a homemade honey lavendar donut from Bite next door - they are amazing.

Heika's Hoody
Ok, so I feel that the ridiculous weather we've been having warrants me making my dachshund a hoody. I went to Joann's and found the cutest thermal print with colorful apples for the lining, and a nice green fleece to make it nice and snuggly. If there is one thing dachshund's love it is soft and warm things!

Free Stuff!
Thanks to Amy at Purplepinkandorange for sponsoring a Megan Lee Designs giveaway.
The winner chose this totebag and is also a crafty lady herself. I was just reading her blog and we have some of the same loves, including Marrimeko (although, who doesn't love them... ;)
Anyway, next time I will post about any of my giveaways BEFORE they are over, but I just got back to Chicago from traveling in Columbus, Akron, Salem, OH, and Pittsburgh. Happy New Year!
